Privacy Policy

KidCaptain (“we”, “us”) is a family chore-and-rewards app: kids check off school work, activities and chores to earn points they redeem for real-world rewards, and a parent reviews and approves. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. It is provided by Oatsy LLC, contactable at swppatel@gmail.com.

Information we handle

Parent account. When a parent creates a household we collect their email address and a password (used only to sign in and sync data across devices).

Household content. Information a parent or family enters in the app: each kid’s first name and avatar color, the tasks and rewards you set up, and the resulting points, submissions and redemptions.

Kid profiles. Kids do not provide an email address or other contact information. A parent optionally sets up a kid’s own-device login, which is a short numeric PIN chosen for that kid. We collect no personal information from a child beyond the first name a parent enters.

On-device data. A parent may set a local PIN to gate the parent area on a shared device; only a salted hash of that PIN is stored on the device, never the PIN itself. The app also caches your household data on the device so it works offline.

Notifications. If you turn on notifications, we store a device push token so we can deliver KidCaptain alerts (for example, when a chore is finished or approved). The token is used solely to deliver these notifications — never for advertising or analytics — and is removed when it stops working or when the related profile is deleted.

How we use information

We use this information solely to provide the app: to authenticate you, sync your household across your devices, and let you review, approve and track chores and rewards. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it. KidCaptain contains no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking SDKs.

Where your data is stored

Accounts and household data are stored using Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), which processes data on Google Cloud infrastructure on our behalf. Access is restricted by authentication and server-side security rules so that only members of your household can read or change your household’s data. See Google’s privacy practices at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Children’s privacy

KidCaptain is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or guardian. Kid profiles are created under parental control and contain only a first name. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children beyond what a parent provides in the app. A parent can review, edit, or delete a kid’s profile and all associated data at any time from the parent area, and can reset the entire household. If you believe a child has provided us information without parental involvement, contact us at swppatel@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Sharing

We do not share your information with third parties except the infrastructure provider named above that stores the data for us, or where required by law. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your household is active. You can delete kids, tasks, rewards and their history in the app, and “Reset” clears the household’s data. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at swppatel@gmail.com.

Security

Data is protected in transit and at rest by our infrastructure provider, and access is enforced by authentication and server-side rules. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes

We may update this policy; we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
